There is no other ornamental botanical creature that suits very well as a splendid customization for architectural design other than the climbing rose. Climbing roses make gardens and courtyards look majestic. Any residence owning one would give an impression that they are wealthy, because there is something about blooming architecture that exudes some kind of “royal” aura that neighbors and passersby would easily notice. But just because the concept of growing these climbing roses sounds appealing does not mean that people around it would readily appreciate it as much as the cultivators do. There are things to consider about growing climbing roses.

An important thing an owner must ponder upon is the question of where to drape or coil these climbing roses. It is advisable not to grow them in fences on backyard or the adjacent neighborhood. The main reason as to why growing them on the backyard would not seem a sound idea is because the backyard is usually where a tool shed, a junkyard or a laundry wire is placed. Even if one would put the terrace behind the house, it would not necessarily mean that the back neighbors would do the same. Virtually speaking, it does not feel right to have a beautiful garden erected near a messy environment. The contrast would be too daringly stark. The reason why it is also not advisable to drape climbing roses on a fence that divides your adjacent neighbor is that it would likely cause fights and outdoor showdowns especially if you and your neighbor are not what you exactly call each other as close friends who have common interest. Some people simply hate plants and have the tendency to derogatorily brand simple nature lovers as “tree-huggers”. The side fence can practically be considered as a mutual property between you and your neighbor. Unless you ask permission and they do not mind, then it is possible to negotiate putting roses on these fences. But they would not necessarily know how to care for it when it overgrows on the other side of the fence the way you are supposed to.

Another thing to consider about beautifying an architectural structure with climbing roses is the question of whether this kind of rose is compatible to this design. Ideally, contrasting colors pass for an A grade in aesthetics. Let me illustrate an example.

If you have a wonderful deep maroon-shaded Japanese archway, it would be best to coil pale pinkish-toned climbing roses around each pillar.
